For a film titled Anora, we never really learn much about Anora. 😕 Not every film needs to be overly informative about its lead character, but this one would have benefited from it.
My mind goes straight to Uncut Gems because, to me, there are similarities. Imagine if we had as much insight into Anora as we do into Howard Ratner. This could have been as meaningful as Uncut Gems—or at least as meaningful as The Florida Project.
I’m utterly baffled by the harsh response to this. Were y’all paid to tear this movie to shreds? Was there a meeting I missed where everyone agreed to call it ‘regressive’ and say the music was terrible? I’m all for differing opinions but all the negative reviews are undeservedly *scathing* and oddly similar. Did we watch the same thing?!

Absolutely solid entertainment. I cannot fathom not enjoying…
After this (and Knock at the Cabin), I don’t think I’ll be wasting my time on another Shyamalan film. I no longer get him and I don’t want to try anymore.
You *must* suspend your knowledge of how everything in our world actually works to buy into this. I can’t think of a single redeeming quality. Not to mention the physical ramifications of watching this… my face muscles literally hurt from cringing the entire time.
(I gotta take my luteal phase angst out on something & apparently Trap is the unlucky victim 😒)
