  A Most Violent year showcases two great performances from Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. Scratch the surface and there isn't much more there.

  As she is primarily known as Rachel from Friends and for being typecasted into romcoms, Jennifer Aniston in serious oscar worthy role appeared to be something to get excited about.

  There is absolutely nothing award worthy about her terrible performance. She struggles immensely under the strain of this bleak and unpleasant character and it doesn't take long for the viewer to realise that this film is going nowhere.

  There is no direction and the film stumbles around aimlessly as Aniston's…

  Wonderful, boundary pushing film making. Never have I had such an intense, emotional experience at the cinema. Best film of 2013 without a shadow of a doubt.

  Apparently this film looks nice. OK great, but why is it so dull? Where is the narrative? Where is the dialogue? And above all, throat-slashing is incredibly tacky.
