Started this on Halloween but couldn’t finish it, so we saved the best for post-Halloween!
Horrifying in so many different ways: the ancient evil being, the crew getting slowly surrounded over time and seeing no way out, the disgusting body transformations, the BUGS, the possession and the power of the possessed, the candlelit church.
Then it ended so perfectly for a horror film.

Watching this for the first time as an adult was such a journey. If I hadn’t been watching it with my 5 year old who is absolutely enamored by it, I might’ve gotten tired of the length, but I definitely enjoyed the wild ride.
This is sort of a depiction of what it feels like to live in my brain.
I enjoyed the concept of this movie, but really felt like it was lacking in structure and depth of the plot. Not to say all of the little side quests in his journey weren’t entertaining, but I felt like it was missing a lot of information, and never really came together. Maybe that was on purpose-to let the anxiety marinate long after watching- but I would’ve preferred the chaos to be more controlled.

I was not prepared for the pain this movie would cause me. For some reason I expected a light, classic romance plot- but instead got a very sad, raw, real kind of love. At times it was a bit difficult for me to follow plot-wise with a lot of quickly changing scenes, but they made up for that in the cinematography. Not to mention HER WARDROBE.
