today i learned you could give half stars on this app. sweet!
might have to come back to this later but i’m still grappling with how i could like this movie. it feels novel yet pedantically derivative (it’s basically frankenstein’s nymphomaniac with remnants of AHS 2: Asylum); it’s oddly feminist (all the men are dumb) yet somewhat regressive (i mean, a SW phase for self growth? two black characters in explicitly ~magical roles? really?)
i watched it for the outfits and prod design, stayed despite the where the wild things are interstitials and overall had a good time, i think.
