The Wrestler 2008
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008) is a grim tale of self-sacrifice and tragic obsolescence, one that sticks with you long after it's over. Aronofsky's highly dramatic directing style works terrifically with the overly dark tone of the film, combining to create a harrowing cinematic experience. The cinematography is outstanding, lots of close-ups and well-framed shots of the ring that would be absent if not for Aronofsky's strong knowledge on wrestling and directing as a whole.

Psycho 1960
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) cemented the slasher killer archetype and did so flawlessly. Anthony Perkins' performance as Norman Bates is inarguably one of the most iconic displays in all of film history. George Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) is the quintessential zombie film, being Romero's first major movie he produced it mostly by himself. At a budget of less than 150 grand, Romero managed to hit where it counts. The iconic shot of the decaying corpse on the staircase is unforgettable, and burns into your retinas the second you've seen it. Romero's interpretation of zombies (or ghouls, as they're called) is a unique one, since they use rocks and weapons…

High and Low 1963
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
thoroughly enthralling and phenomenally acted. this most likely inspired Parasite (2019), as it deals with a lot of the same themes and subjects. i greatly enjoyed following 2 separate main characters throughout the film and seeing all the early police technology used to catch criminals. hypnotic soundtrack and phenomenal cinematography, definitely a worthy Kurosawa film if you enjoy crime dramas.
