Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 1972
I love this movie so fucking much. Every time I watch it I feel healed on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Is this what religious people feel when they say that God has come into their lives?
Meiko Kaji is in 90% of the shots in this movie and almost all of them are iconic. She only has two lines and they're both devastating.
It's ecstasy.

The Purge: Election Year 2016
Election Year definitely has a better cast, but I think I prefer Anarchy. Hard to beat Frank Grillo Punisher for me, you know?
Other gripes are minor, it's still fun.

Sweet Whip 2013
A tough, but rewarding watch. Sweet Whip deals with the trauma of sexual assault in a way that I don't know if I've ever seen done before, but one that I think is worth talking about.
You could probably argue that the sexual violence here is way over-sexualized, but if you're going to have the consensual stuff be that explicit it makes sense to me that the rest of it would be.
I guess it's having your cake and eating…

Lush: A Far from Home Movie 2024

The film is mostly just the band walking around various places while on tour for their second album, Split. The last…

Royal Warriors 1986
Solidly entertaining police action flick. It's well put together, well acted and has some excellent fight scenes. I really liked the way that they handled the villains, giving them a backstory and purpose, rather than just making them evil gangsters.
Royal Warriors is more serious and straightforward than Magnificent Warriors, the film Michelle Yeoh and director David Chung did directly after this, and it's not as much fun as a result. But I still enjoyed the fuck out of it.
