This has a lot of tonal and narrative changes between the love story of Mildred Burke and Billy Wolfe, and the rise of women's wrestling in the U.S. Both stories are interesting, but because they try to do so much, both stories are also underserved. They also made some bizarre choices in changes from what really happened, like what the Alligator Clutch is functionally, and a character dying young who in real life lived to be 89 years old.
Nevertheless, the performances in this is really strong, especially from Emily Bett Rickards, and those performances made the film enjoyable in spite of its issues.
