- Story shows something fresh with Batman we have seen before, a true detective story

- A genuinely terrifying Batman.

- Final act doesn’t fit tonally with the rest of the film
- Last 20/30 minutes seems repetitive to older Batman movies aswell as some clunky foreshadowing to the future…
My friend was telling me before we saw this movie that Joaquin wanted this movie to be called “Arthur” instead of Joker.
But after watching it... Phoenix has a point.
You can easily remove the Thomas Wayne subplot and do a find and replace on the script to change Gotham to any other city name and it would still hold up.
This movie was pretty good in all fairness, but I find it hard to consider this as a comic book movie and wish it was called “Arthur” or something else... not Joker
Also they really said “society” didn’t they?
Good

- Surprisingly Enjoyable
- Bonkers twists which you cannot see coming
- Smart play with gravity at some points
- Didn’t explain what an EMP was (yay!)

- Horrific Script
- Way too much time on Earth (takes an hour for them to get into space)
- Wooden acting all around (Eme Ikwuakor being ‘stoic’ in particular)
- Everyone at NASA is the dumbest person
- Patrick Wilson’s son…
