As someone who adores journalism and journalism movies, it’s hard to go wrong with a movie like this for me. It may be a bit too Oscar baity at times and its attempts at banter don’t always land for me, but it’s nevertheless excellent

Wild at Heart 1990
My affection for this movie only grows with each viewing. I honestly feel like this is the first glimpse of late-career David Lynch we eventually come to expect. Unabashedly melodramatic in its performances and uncompromisingly bonkers in its story, I am reminded how this kind of storytelling is how we have movies like "The Substance" today.

I grew frustrated with this movie really fast, but I tried to give it a fair shot. There could’ve been interesting potential if we stayed with Anna Kendrick’s character’s perspective, using her perspective of misogyny in the 70s and her career struggles to then have her take part in this Dating Game show where the most charming of the men winds up being a real life killer. However, the film’s constant time jumps to show us the killer’s past murders…
