I just don't think some psychotic woman torturing her husband is comedy. If they made the husband more deserving, or as unhinged as her, then it might have been something. I don't know how the book plays out, but if the violence and characters were absurd instead of realistic then it could have been funny. To write them this way instead and think you're writing comedy is some real sicko stuff.

The Substance 2024
Enjoyable throughout. All the subtlety of a brick to the face for much of it. But ends up with quite a few decent metaphors in the mix. Got short film vibes from the "being hit over the head with the messages" and the editing but it's actually 140 minutes. Wasn't tedious though. Very fun ending. It's a movie where the director was obviously allowed to do whatever the hell she wanted. I hope that's going to be a trend.

Even better than the original. The whole cast is great, the score is great, the effects are great, all the vampire stuff is great. I think it might have the coolest vampire stuff out of any vampire movie.
