Truly hard to assign a rating to something that viscerally repulsed me so much. It is well made, it is effective.

    Drummy McFastgood: the Whiplash Story

The difficulty for films about Greatness is that they have to depict or express or portray this Greatness to the viewer in a way that makes you understand and feel the gravity of the thing on display. The AI interstitials hurt the movie but they are not its only flaws. The found footage premise doesn’t work when there are frequent cutaways to “behind the scenes” footage, and the opening narration sets this up more like an episode of The Twilight Zone than a feature film.

Perhaps a weird curve to grade on, but if this were in fact an episode of something like Netflix’s Cabinet of Curiosities, and was cut down to 70 or so minutes, I would be singing its praises.

Hell yeah. A brutal cartoon fairytale that balances the visceral and the slapstick. Moore and Quaid are fantastic, as is the visual design and style that oozes out of the film like guts from a wound.

The final ten to twenty minutes left me laughing and smiling like an idiot in sheer joy.
