as a story this probably works, but as a film it never quite lives up to its potential. it balances the drama and comedy relatively well, it's just that neither of those are really that good. not bad, but not good - just like the film itself. great performances all around, and great potential, but that's about it.

easily one of the best comedies of the 21st century - if not the best. endlessly rewatchable, delightfully absurd and straight up hilarious from beginning to end - it's an absolute must-watch for literally everyone.
David Wain and The State/Stella crew have proven time and time again that they are unable to make anything other than greatness - and this is the film that started it all (feature film-wise, of course)
