  bong joon ho for a scrolling Netflix audience … 
  I guess when you’ve been making movies about the ills of 21st cent. capitalism for 25 years tho and shit is still worse than ever it’s fair to just really make your point as goofy and obviously as possible. 
  would have rather delved a little into the speculative ethics of consciousness duplication instead of a CGI battle of good guys vs settler colonialism but eh maybe this isn’t for me

  the production design is impressive but this movie is immature and 0/10 mesmerizing. 
  if people are going to keep making 3 hour movies they need to be put in acts and there need to be intermissions. hollywood is not above this basic rule of the performing arts 🥱

  Overstylized and over-inspired — Ti West is part of a generation of male horror filmmakers who cross their fingers and hope they can get away with plagiarizing earlier aesthetics in the genre. Jokes on him, Mario Bava only had so much swag bc he 100% went in for the pulp, none of this watered down, pastiche, Easter-egg-filled, wink-wink-feminist bullshit. I enjoyed it tho.
