  Tommy 1975

  I’m at this point in film school where I’m trying to be my authentic self. And watching Tommy tonight, I felt closer to myself. My dad and I used to watch this and The Wall and it really holds a special place in my heart. But walking out I felt such dread. Like I’d never be able to recreate something like that which ironically is more me than anything I promise to make. So I don’t know. It’s a great film which I’m glad I can appreciate on a more analytic/technical level now.

  This is my least favorite director ever. I’ve never seen a more indulgent film with the most sophomoric “philosophy” behind it. Why do we have to watch two Jodorowsky films for this class?!

  Nostalgia, yeah. This movie is wild for a kids film, though. I really love the casting as well. One of the last Phil Hartman films so that’s sentimental for 90s Kenny. And David Cross for Mr. Show days.
