Acting is not reacting, acting is restraint. Human beings are biologically driven to keep hidden the parts of ourselves that we deem would render us vulnerable. And I’d argue that more than any physical shortcoming it’s our emotions, that which governs our entire experience and yet rarely do we have explanation for, that leave us most vulnerable to harm. Deeply affecting documentary. So many human and inhuman moments throughout. Never have I been in a theater where folks openly sobbed in that way. And sometimes in the same breath that they laughed. Yuval and Basan’s relationship was the heart of this. Loved the inclusion of the tension caused by Yuval getting to move freely and return home every night. Glad they addressed the uncomfortable truths.

    Well deserving win.

Nothing but disgust, contempt, disdain for our latest class of “I’m just following orders” warriors. Hope not a single settler or IDF soldier, in this film or otherwise, gets a restful nights sleep ever again.
