Anya Taylor-Joy with a Russian accent. Close enough. Welcome back, Illyana Rasputin.
It’s a very generic romantic sci-fi/action flick, but the chemistry of Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy (along with Scott Derrickson’s direction) spices it up.
Snow White is a mixed bag. Rachel Zegler embodies all of the qualities that you want out of a Disney Princess and breathes life into a thin and dull script. There are so many underdeveloped characters in this. Gal Gadot is laughably bad here. The dwarves are great though.
If Mia Goth has a million fans, I’m one of them. If Mia Goth has a thousand fans, I’m one of them. If Mia Goth has a hundred fans, I’m one of them. If Mia Goth has 10 fans, I’m one of them. If Mia Goth has 1 fan, I’m him. If Mia Goth has no fans, I’m dead and I hope it’s her who killed me.
By far, this is one of Pixar’s most unmemorable movies. It is visually beautifully and Keke Palmer brings some spark to Izzy Hawthorne, but MY GOD what was Pixar thinking? They are better than this. None of these characters are remotely fascinating or new. The story has potential, but just falls under the usual tropes. One of the biggest disappointments is Buzz Lightyear himself who is a boring character. Chris Evans adds some levity, but it’s drowned out by the weak script. The robots are cool and Sox is cute though.
