Will you be a mensch?
Movie-wise this movie is tip top, rating-wise! Wilder’s construction of a man and his house, objectified by others seeking his own subjectivity in the world is as wonderful as it is relevant, contemporary-wise. Great movie, tis wise.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
A wonderful film, dragging me out of a state of anxiousness - it delves into family relations, liminal spaces between what is real and what the mind has created - and how it can destroy also. A definite mature work which is able to still be distinctly Ghibli but also moves beyond Miyazaki’s earlier work. It is also really funny as well, very glad to have watched it :)

This movie is an incredible look into existential thought and the role of purpose in life. Moving through Kierkegaard’s aesthetic, ethical and perhaps even religious dimensions - Kurosawa combines excellent direction with astounding acting. This movie shook me frfr and moved me in ways I could not understand

Napoleon 2023
Soo historically inaccurate grr!! My broski is in this film tho, so imma have to back it. No mention of Napoleon’s political achievements and a reductionism of his strategic mind, not to mention the very conservative depiction of the sans-culottes. The actual history is so much more interesting in some cases (lookin at you Thermidorian Reaction!) but it is odd, it provides the semblance of history but seems to get many things off… did also like seeing Joaquin Phoenix’s awkward rizz too lol
