  Wasn't entirely sure what this film was going to bring to me other than "Mack the Knife" and "Pirate Jenny". But, I'm delighted to find that it's a genuinely great, satirical pulpy and gritty musical about the anti-heroic lower dregs of society in the rough-and-tumble streets of Victorian London. It's a proto-Scorsese film and I feel like it would go hand-in-hand with "Dr. Mabuse the Gambler".

  Anyways, this ight lowkey be one of my favorite musicals of all time now.

  I’m honestly at a loss for words right now. An overwhelming movie in every sense, skewering me emotionally. A masterpiece. Nolan’s masterpiece. The best film of the year.

  Just everything firing on all cylinders with this bad boy. The acting, writing, directing, editing, cinematography, score. Just… fuck.
