Kill Bill: Vol. 2 2004
This is the better of the two, but that makes sense given it’s the 2nd part and ending of basically one story. I still can’t get over the Hollywood sheen in some of the scenes - like, just too well lit, and the whites of the eyes and teeth are too squeaky clean!

I’m glad I rewatched this. First time since when it first came out, I think. It’s much better than I remembered, although I think I was biased at the time because this was an early digital video experiment. At the time the digital quality, compared to film, made it look amateurish. But in retrospect, its cinematography has sweep and scope. Yes, there are some minor issues with blowouts and poor motion capture, but Mann takes advantage of digital photography strengths…

The Crying Game 1992
If someone described this plot to you, you’d think that there was no way that all of these different elements would work together, but, for most of the movie, it does work, until the end, at which it seems that Neil Jordan couldn’t quite figure out how to land the thing. However, much props for the attempt.
