  Sorry not to be wOoOOke and a freakin LIB or whatever but when you look past the (to its credit) thrilling action and great cinematography, under the hood you find a pretty mediocre screenplay in which the only woman’s sole role is to scream and cry for her man and the only black man in the entire film is made to be ontologically evil. Byeee!

  I think allegory/metaphor of this type can easily become played out or too on the nose, but this is not one of those cases, and it manages to feel really visceral, subtle, poignant and creative without trying too hard. The trade off there is that some of it may not fall neatly into place and you may wonder how some pieces fit together, but I think that’s something that also arguably works towards its benefit rather than even being a fault.
