This movie is an excellent metaphor for how powerful religion can be and how it can be monstrous when manipulated. The main villain is as charming as he is threatening, and at times, I almost felt bad for his twisted mind. I liked this movie. I love how everything is exaggerated to attempt to stir up a lot of emotions. At points when they tried, I just couldn't take it seriously, but in the end, I was sad when I thought his wife died.

A true masterpiece, the story is perfect as well as the acting, the characters, and the filming. It always yanks on the heartstrings at the end of the film when almost every character loses their life to bring Private Ryan back home. It's even enraging at the end to see the spared Nazi kill the Captain of our American Heroes.
