"What's she gonna do, shoot me? We're in a restaurant!"

A slick neo-noir thriller. There's a tremendous sense of late-80s style thanks to solid direction, nice cinematography and a really good soundtrack. The film is also tremendously cast.

The story is of a New York City detective trying to catch a serial killer who finds victims through a singles column. It's told very well thanks to a perfect balance of melancholy loneliness, tension and humour. The only issue is the…

"You believe what you want. You work your side of the street, and I'll work mine."

A good story told intelligently, from the script up. The eponymous cop is determined to find the underworld kingpin who killed the witness under his protection. "RUN! GO! GET TO THE CHOPPER!"

This film is brimming with testosterone with bulging triceps (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers have never looked better), lots of guns, sweat, massive explosions and pussy jokes. "Liverpool can be a lonely place on a Saturday night, and this is only Thursday morning."

There are some witty lines, good voice acting, a tremendous style of animation and some of the best pop songs recorded thanks to The Beatles. However, there's not much of a story so the constant run of loosely linked sections doesn't engage for the entire duration. For all its strengths the overall film is ok fun.
