La Strada 1954
My favorite scene may have been when she went upstairs and found the kid in bed. Love those random mysterious moments of wonder. Also the parade scene. And of course AQ swallowing that ice cream. That’s an old strong man trick, makes your pectoral muscles stick out real far. All in all I wasn’t too interested in the characters or story.

Two Moon Junction 1988
This movie exists in a gauzy dreamworld where desire and menace always lurk beneath the surface. I found it subtly weird, unsettling, and hypnotizing. Allegedly this may have been an influence on Twin Peaks, and I could totally see that. The cinematography, editing, music, and atmosphere are outstanding. I loved it.

Very accurate to LA in the 90s. Feels written by a recent transplant who was trying to make sense of it all. The whole story is built around a large apartment complex with a confusing entry phone system. The landlord seems shady, the neighbors are weird, there’s a super pretty lady, someone has been murdered, and the detective…
