Well written action will always hit for me.
Along with the great performances from the cast, this was genuinely funny and enjoyable to watch. The pacing feels a bit slow and there were a few times I was wondering what Nate was feeling and what he wasn’t, but overall, Novocain is a great thrill-ride, action-comedy that I think everyone can enjoy!

Genuinely one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen and also one of the most heartwarming ones. SZA and Keke together are magical, Issa Rae just has an innate talent for creating good media no matter what, and this movie fully celebrates black humor, culture, and joy, all in one experience. For me, I could see it being a comfort-film staple along with other black films like Boomerang or Friday. No notes. 10’s across the board for me.

I’m not a fan of musicals in the slightest. I would go on to even say that I DETEST them. Having said that, this was absolutely wonderful. I loved every second. I was blown away by the pure effort that went into the production. Singing live, the acting performances, Jon Chu’s shot choices to help us live in his Emerald City, EVERYTHING. This movie floored me in every way and I am highly looking forward to my next screening. Phenomenal film.
