  Martha is undeniably a fascinating woman, and I was captivated by the first third of the documentary. Reading her own critique, I expected her to address the unflattering moments but was amused to find her main complaint was the excessive focus on her jail stint—not because it painted her poorly, but because it was boring! She even pointed out that the trial judge fell asleep it was so boring, a detail she wished had been included in the doc.

  No matter how many funny voices you use, the amount of physical comedy you employ or how carefully constructed your timing is, if the jokes are all sexist, classist, redundant, uninteresting, lacking in depth, and problematic; it’s going to be bad.
