The slow build to the last 10 minutes is still so good. Great watch with my 13 year old daughter. She often wondered what we’ve all always wondered: would they have survived if Angela wasn’t so tucking loud!

Five Superfighters 1979
Well this was a nice surprise!
A kung fu film I’ve never heard of, that looks and feels like its supposed to be the Shaw Brothers equivalent of a B grade martial arts film, with no real stars and a very small budge. Possibly no real script either.
The film opens with an absolutely hilarious riff on kung fu genre conventions, and features some tight choreography. Then it drags for a time, albeit with a few funny bits, but finishes strong with an incredibly choreographed finale. Definitely worth a watch. Or two.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage 1970
Still the best film about birds with crystal plumage ever committed to celluloid.

All the Colors of the Dark 1972
A fever dream giallo filled with a striking array of kaleidoscopic imagery, a weird sex cult, family trauma, elevators, knives and questionable doctors. Edwige Fenech is mesmerizing.
