at the very least this is a movie i had fun with.

i’m not familiar with the source material so i can’t say how good of an adaptation this is, but it felt fresh and the money that was poured into it actually feels like it was well spent compared to most of the big budget movies being released today. watched this when i was about 12 yearsold with my dad and visited the georgetown steps after. it’s the most i can remember being scared while watching a movie. it still holds up after 10 years, maybe not as scary but still deeply disturbing.

this was a lot better than i expected. it feels like a combination of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The House on Sorority row, except in my opinion it’s better than both. it effectively doesn’t show who the killer is which leaves room for the investigation to actually be interesting. acting is pretty good and i don’t think it really leans into camp too far if so at all.
