    The letterboxd description is misleading - it is a short documentary on the lives of donkeys in rural Croatia. You can watch it on youtube here (no subtitles, but it is nevertheless beautiful).

    Well-polished with a few brilliant moments, but largelly disappointing
    I enjoyed the evocation of the era/handling of the setting the most - I did not mind the 'Germany 1838' part or the overly flowery dialogue, the former reminded me of British Gothics with a vaguely Continental setting, while the latter reminded me of overly affected 19th c translations of French and German novels into English. I only wish that the elements of Biedermeierishness/pietism were explored more in the relationship between…
