The form they went with presenting the film is interesting and sorta felt like a weird fever dream rather than a story. Other than the weird moments and awkward pausing, I enjoyed it not knowing what the next sequence would be.
What do you expect from an experimental film?? Walking in I believed that it would just be boring in terms of having no audio dialogue, BUT that enhances the experience of it being dreamy. I didn't like it as much since in my dreams dialogue in this context has weird cut in audio clips rather than being completely silent.
I don't really like musicals but this film had me emotionally connected to the character of Selma. I don't know if it was the dialogue or the musical parts but it made me frustrated that she refused to tell the truth. Regardless the camera movement makes everything feel as if it were regular life and those portions of no music only lets me focus on the characters and their feelings. Its terrible by music standards since it doesn't really appeal…
I actually really liked the way the man is just overly happy with the young woman smoking, joking around, and enjoying every moment then suddenly gets awakened to reveal that his wife is the opposite. He immediately just wants to go back and not think of his life at the moment which seems like a plot you would see in the Simpsons or modern tv shows.
