  I like the idea of what Jack Quaid is trying to do now, but those recent films are just not that good. This is nowhere near as grating as Companion and I had a relatively good time with it, even chuckled a few times. But it's hard to engage with a film that in terms of plot and sometimes even tone just flat-out doesn't work.

  A lot more of a "what if Elvis was old" than a "what if Elvis fought an ancient mummy", but the fact that it manages to combine both into something coherent is quite remarkable. Surprisingly heartfelt and melancholic, even if I think it's a bit over-directed and wordy at times (both things I would never ever think this would be).

  Lake Mungo, undeniably, has a lot going for it. Its format is quite unusual and it's executed with quite a lot of finesse. It's made during the Paranormal Activity time and everyone has a hard-on for stuff that looks cheap and "realistic" and here that concept is twisted a bit to amount for how a real film about ghosts could actually look like.
