Fargo 1996
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Honestly such a blast. Only the third Coen brothers film I’ve seen, but I don’t want it to be the last. Contrasts gritty, bloody crime with simple midwestern charm. You’ll gasp one minute and laugh the next (“he’s kind of funny looking”), but I do think the humor aspects are overdiscussed. Leaves you with plenty of unanswered questions; what happened to the $1,000,000? To Scotty? To Jerry and Gaear? Allegiances switch, people change and nobody really wins in the end except for Marge, who’s got 2 months left, and Norm and his 3 cent stamp, but it’s such a beautiful day out.

Fantastic Mr. Fox 2009
I first saw this when I was 9 years old, and it still resonates with me at age 20. A gorgeous film, a must-watch every autumn. Emblematic of the seasonal change, full of oranges, reds and yellows. A star studded cast and a charming stopmotion style, an absolute essential for anyone who feels hand motions different. Forever one of my favorite films of all time.

Don't Look Now 1973
A movie I genuinely loved and have recommended to all of my film-inclined friends. An interesting look at how different people cope with loss and grief; some may choose to believe in the supernatural or the unseen, hoping for some type of closure (Laura), or some may shut down emotionally, delve deeper into their work and chase apparitions that are more than what meets the eye (John). Roeg turns the romantic, whimsical town of Venice into a cold, grey wasteland stricken by a crime spree of unknown origin. Don’t chase the past; instead, live in the present and look towards the future with a headstrong attitude.
