    It was very, very good.

Great performances by everyone, especially the leads. Remained faithful to the charm and good humor of the show which was a fear of mine. And they added enough new elements and visual flavor to justify the existence of a film adaptation of the theater production.

Whether or not they can justify splitting the movie into multiple three hour parts remains to be seen.

When I saw the show, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first half but really enjoyed the second, so the fact that I really enjoyed part 1 is a positive sign.

A slow burn that never quite gets into fourth gear, but well acted and decent tension in the third act. Not bad.

    Dysfunctional relationship simulator: the film.

I see the movie and I like it.

Then some time goes by, and the more and more I think about it, I realize its flaws, begin to dislike it and realize that it's bad for me.

Then I see it again, and I remember the good times, and I like it all over again.

Then once again, over time my objective self sees the film for the overfilled and objectively poorly written mess that…
