  It's a typical Bong Joon Ho film. But that comes with his usual flaws. Excessive running time, all over the place thematically, but also fine visual style and enough fun. So mid-tier Bong.

  Just bad. It’s not that I don’t like a good jab at the Americans once in a while. Still don’t know how Verhoeven made Starship Troopers. But this movie had zero pacing, zero character building, zero plot, zero beats, it’s just a boring mess of a movie. Even the climax is so boring. I don’t get it, critics all of a sudden don’t care about goddamn basic character building, pacing and beats! Something strange is going on.

  A masterpiece. It's not a pleasant watch. But real art doesn't have to be pleasant. It's a tour the force of Debie/Noe/Cassel like you will rarely see. It leaves you in tears but it will also leave you knowing you have seen something different, something daring, something crazy. You will be one step closer to understanding what film can be and must be. It doesn't have to be three acts, it doesn't need to be Disney. It needs to be daring, provocative it needs to test all boundaries of life!
