Nickel Boys 2024
Shit man I haven’t read the book but this was so dream-like, horror filled, and so intense in the best way.
The POV storytelling is really something special here. The writing is subtly pushing you towards the concept of trauma as endless repetition, of a cycle. The use of archival (yall know I’m a sucker for some archival) - chefs kiss. Marathoners running backwards as they talk about the horrors of Nickel - goddamn.
That twist made me choke and cry in the theater. Highly recommend.

One of my lesser favorites from Tarkovsky and yes, it is because I inevitably fall asleep for at least a third of the movie every damn time I watch it. It’s absolutely beautiful, the cinematography is incredible, the acting is great, and yet I end up honk shoo mimiming up a storm.
Wanna read the book.
