It’s like the complete and total antithesis to the Good the Bad and the Ugly. That movie is fun, thrilling and bombastic. This one is morose, meditative, and brutal.
It captures the grittiness and despair of the Wild West as well as the disillusionment with the American dream that obviously echoed during the period this movie was made.

An oddball movie with a very strong visual style which is the first apparent thing upon watching.
I really enjoyed the Technicolor, psychedelic 60s vibe of the film and the campy tone. It’s consistently visually stunning as well as funny, especially for the first half.
It starts to lose some steam in the second half, but it’s held together by the craftsmanship at hand and the lead performance go a long way.
I’m not a film historian but I think this might be the first example of “gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss” AND “pussy got him acting unwise”
