    Very much in the sense of brutalist architecture theory this film leaves no fat, despite its over 3 1/2 hour runtime, and is only short of being self reflexive to achieve a brutalist film. This exposes the great hypocrisy of humanity to long for civility but to succumb to its vile nature. But most importantly Adrien Brody serves a character study as a man covered in the scars left from a lifetime of pain and torture who’s only greater torture…

    Proof that vision and ambition can surpass the limits of a budget. If anyone wants to argue that there isn’t the slightest bit avant-guarde horror we’ve seen from the greats like Argento and Gavin Trier then I’m all ears.
