I think a lot of these negative reviews have more to do with disdain for “bad representation” in the pursuit of Good Representation (which, to be fair, is a noble pursuit but unfair to demand all cinema be anthropologically representative) and somehow in a full circle way I (lesbian with a strong repressive conservative upbringing) do feel represented by how this story played out on both Jessica’s and Helen’s sides.
