Bong Joon Ho's next film after his acclaimed Parasite was always going to pale in comparison, but my word this was a huge disappointment. L.A. Confidential 1997
Curtis Hanson's noire epic L.A. Confidential is an absolutely brilliant and thrilling detective film that holds up incredibly well. Set in the backdrop of L.A. in the 50's, it's a beautiful looking film with a finely crafted story and script that is engaging from beginning to end. The three leads are impeccable with superb performances by Crowe, Pierce and Spacey. All these characters have fantastic arcs, all with different ways of tackling crime. As a fan of the video game L.A. Noire you can tell this film was a huge inspiration for it and I loved every moment, another 90's banger.
