Patrick Tam's Nomad is a masterclass in tonal juxtaposition, combining playful young-adult comedy antics with a shocking political thriller with added erotic elements. It's quite funny at times, full of carefree youthfulness which is emphasized by Tam's expressive camerawork. He uses slo-motion beautifully, giving sequences an operatic feeling. I liked this more than I expected, but really only for the Rut and Bertil storyline. I thought the other story felt completely disconnected from the film, and while both stories clearly explore the same themes of women grappling with trauma and strained/toxic relationships, they really are operating on different levels. The ending didn't really do it for me, but still interesting and enjoyable.

People mad that Bong Joon Ho went back to getting a little freaky with his movie, but not me. Entertaining with clear themes and great performances, I genuinely don’t get what some people are missing about this movie. So whacky and darkly funny. I loved the entire closing sequence- it felt very Spielberg when they were driving through the snow with Marshall. Good stuff- would watch again!
