Past Lives 2023
There won’t be many films that top this for me in 2023. It’s even up there as my favourite film of all time.
There isn’t anything extravagant about this film, no Hollywood thrills or crazy endings. What it does though is capture real lives so perfectly.

Kikujiro 1999
Very good - it’s about a kid going on an adventure during his summer break with a yakuza family friend. The main plot is to find his mother who is found to live in a town far away. Funny and heartwarming, showing culture from Japan you don’t usually see, with the added bonus of having music from the composer of spirited away and other Ghibli films!
3 and a half stars as I believe it was a little bit slow and there were a couple of taken aback moments which left me confused.
