I don´t know if I liked it. I really do not, because simply from watching the movie it caused confusion, laughter and disturbance. But as I was reading further reviews and also looked into Raul Ruiz' work, the movie does have something very special to it. Although, many reviews recommend watching the extended version (132 min), which I could not find. So maybe this plays a crucial role in the likability of it.

Once again without knowing what would happen, the title did not reveal much of the movie unless you are a chemist, who knows his shit. The German title although, tells you what is about to happen: "No coke for Sherlock Holmes". This is an interesting intertwined storyline of two figures, very different to each other, famous from books that undergo an adventure.
The movie has high potential (proven by its Oscar nominations), it just does not manage to present itself at its best. Nonetheless, probably one of the most exciting missions of Sherlock Holmes and definitely a rather unusual one for Sigmund Freud.

For me to end the perfect day, Perfect Days is a a fantastic 5 star movie. The soundtrack guided my past 3 weeks in between first and rewatching it, a perfect selection to accompany Hirayama’s life as a toilet cleaner. There is not much one can dislike in him as the protagonist, he definetly knows how to live. He values certain small things but knows how to be satisfied simply by those! At one point you learn more about his…

I did not know what kind of movie to expect solely based on the title. Therefore, to kick off a series of classics, I was even more surprised to see the first to be an animated movie. I could not tell whether the style fit my usual impression of Ghibli Studio movies because Grave of the Fireflies has something special to it. From beautifully painted background scenes to very tasty looking food, this movie managed to present a heart breaking story as a pleasurable experience.
