  Literally has all the best material for a psychological mystery bop (amnesiac paranoia, strange fantasies, a mysterious wig) plus the most gorgeous photography, so it’s a shame that it’s all taken to the least interesting place possible

  A largely pleasant viewing experience (I like watching people go about their mundane daily routines & I like dad rock) that leaves a sour aftertaste. Between the touristic orientalism & cringey boomer-core observations about the changing world - not to mention the belaboured dialogue & the truly godawful cop-out ending - the whole thing sadly just rings false

  Fucking horrible. Thought this might be lazily apolitical but it is actually 2 hours of aggressively centrist ‘stop the violence’ bullshit that often feels more like overt anti-communist propaganda, never even approaching the nuances of American violence in Korea whilst caricaturing communists as brainwashed, bloodthirsty fools. Truly difficult to overstate how asinine the film’s philosophy is (at one point one of the characters earnestly says if no one knew about capitalism or communism no one would kill or be killed…
