Rodney is wearing a thick gold chain with both a cross and Italian horn, because he’s playing a degenerate. It’s these kind of stereotypes my people have worked so hard to fight against, yet I enjoyed this movie.

Slam Dance 1987
This movie wasn’t very good and I remember little of the story but it had some solid visual moments which is worth the price of admission (FREE on prime) and the main character, an artist, has one of the coolest studios I’ve ever seen, where the floors and even the walls are all white tile. Very 80s, and completely impractical for a painter.

The Love Witch 2016
An aesthetic sweet spot for me. I don’t get any irony here which makes this really work. Biller genuinely has a love for the stuff she’s referencing and to me, manages to keep it fresh. Would love to see Anna Biller make more movies with Samantha Robinson, who looks better than any actress has looked in a movie in recent memory. Absolutely too long, though.
