Turns out a G rated David Lynch movie will fuck me up in exactly the same way all his other movies do. The conversation in the bar was a lot.

Finally got around to this one! It’s slightly disorienting seeing Gary Oldman play a character like Smiley after four seasons of Slow Horses. This movie is gay but could be even gayer tbh! Now wondering if I need to add le Carre to my neverending tbr pile (probably).

Do I know what “happened” in this movie? WHO CARES. it’s a vibes and images movie, not a plot one, and by the time we got to naked interpretive dance in the jungle I was all in.

This movie was okay, which is disappointing because I think it had the cast and setup to be great. The leads are very cute and likable, and I enjoyed both of the families, but it kept trying to be a more serious movie about whether two cultures could come together rather than staying within the bounds of gently mocking a white man for not being able to handle spice. A lot of the conflict was just there to be there. I still enjoyed parts of it, but a shame!
