The opening scene feels like a parody of something but then after that it quickly settles into its tone. A few too many twists makes the timeline a little tough to follow but overall I had a blast watching this unfold. There’s a really interesting dynamic here where the movie and the characters are using some hardcore espionage tactics, and it’s really engaging to watch, but then you eventually get a reminder that all this is being done by corporations over frozen pizza recipes and lotion formulas💀. Also a fantastic unhinged Paul Giamatti performance, impossible not to mention.

Michael Clayton 2007
The level of scorn with which George Clooney says “Milwaukee” is truly incredible. Amazing performance from him all around. This is pretty dense and almost overwhelming but not quite, you really feel the weight of everything piling up, which I imagine is intentional to match how Michael Clayton the character feels. And boy is it effective.

The way more and more is revealed about the family dynamic throughout the runtime is very engaging as the audience learns about the true antagonist. Very bleak and stripped back for a crime drama, but I think it works to make it feel a lot more real.
