Always cool to see the city in the past— the neighborhoods of the late 70s in their grunge were a highlight in itself. Al Pacino gave a great performance. My issue was the finale… didn’t care for the open messages it may or may have been sending about the BDSM gay community but I’m giving Friedkin the benefit of the doubt (I’m sure he’s written or spoken extensively about it, I just haven’t read or heard anything yet…).

Opus 2025
I love a film that takes a big swing… that has intention and something to say. This was 70% of the way there for me, and could’ve used more stewing. Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich were excellent, and I also liked some of the music which had to live up to being a global sensation, so it had lots of pressure on it! Alas, it was tough to fully wrap my head around.

History of the World: Part I 1981
Second watch and it's just so good with a few (or more than a few things) that don't hold up. But it's so clever, insightful, and fun.

The Brutalist 2024
I dunno man… I was so hyped for this one, and it was masterfully made, truly. I have been listening to the incredible score for days. But for some reason there was something off. I liked it best when the medium was the message- and that this is Brady’s Brutalist 3.5 hour mark on the earth, like Laszlo did. I also liked the whimsy and the absurdism, but for some reason it didn’t weave together well for me. I enjoyed it but.. I dunno!
