The Younger Me who saw this like 30 years ago didn’t love Barton Fink. It didn’t have the silliness that Fargo Raising Arizona did & I just more or less dismissed it as fine.

The Me From The Current Timeline, however? Well, he’s a different story. Maybe it was the exposure to the non-goofy Coen stuff that softened me up here but between this & my love for subtle humor helped my appreciation for Barton Fink to bloom. Extra points for the…

Eraserhead is the seed from which all Lynch grew. The sets, the sounds, all of it. I can’t tell you what Eraserhead is about (well, more specifically, what happens in it) but my thirteen year old daughter gave a thumbs up when I asked her if she liked it after we watched it together.

This might be Gene Hackman’s best role & Royal has become my favorite character. I want to throw Owen Wilson’s character off a roof (especially for Buckley, but mostly for being an insufferable horse’s ass) & once Bill Murray’s character gets over what a ghoul Margot is I like him so much more.

I had/have a slight aversion to The Royal Tenenbaums only because it was a big part of a bad year for me. However, I can say it’s objectively great. Not Life Aquatic or Rushmore great, but much, much greater than that piece of shit Asteroid City. Fuck that movie.

I dug Mickey 17. The first act made me a bit depressed more than the classism in Bong Joon Ho’s other films to the point where I hated most of the characters. Robert Pattinson was amazing in the multiple roles (Mickey 18 was great!) to the point where I’m probably going to watch anything he’s in without question.

Mark Ruffalo did such a hysterically great job as one of the biggest pieces of shit (with strong notes of Trump) I’ve…
