Less-restrained eroticism compared to ITMFL, but a fascinating (and beautifully shot) follow-up. By moving between character arcs briskly, we see more sides of Chow that add to his complexity. The curt, reserved, and milquetoast qualities we saw from his character in ‘In the Mood for Love’ are turned upside down into a confident and promiscuous performance. Evocative, gorgeous to look at, and a filmmaker who refused to be kept inside traditional modes of storytelling.

Dead Ringers 1988
Is it going out on a limb to say the performance by Jeremy Irons is top 3 I’ve ever seen? The unsettling story likely scared away awards voters, but what a supremely entertaining (and creepy) watch.

Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
The old man has still got it. Career best from Leo, but De Niro stole the show with his best performance in decades.

Burn After Reading 2008
Adding a half star after rewatching for the 5th time. Just a hilarious movie with idiosyncrasies that add so much color to every character (whom are perfectly cast). Malkovich plays the dumbest and funniest “smart guy” and Clooney plays a paranoid, handsome dolt perfectly. Under-appreciated piece of the Coen Bros filmography.
