Witchhammer 1970
This was a fantastic surprise!! I have only seen a few witchfinder movies like Witchfinder General, but two years later from that movie was this 1970 Czech film and I was hooked from the start. Although part of the folk horror boxset All the Haunts Be Ours, this is more about the horrors of the Inquisition with their witchfinding mission and the corruption it brings. Shot in beautiful black and white and framed with a man talking of the Devil…

Bringing Up Baby 1938
Loved this! Another fast talking comedy of its day, I really enjoyed the hell out of it. It did make me think why there isn't a more modern take of something like this, but then again it would probably be played more for shock than laughs. This movie holds up well and had me in stitches. Definitely worth checking out.

Samurai Reincarnation 1981
I am surprised this is not listed as a horror movie but rather a action/fantasy because this Sonny Chiba movie has all the hallmarks of a horror adventure movie. What's more interesting is how it focuses on the villains of the first third before we get a clear focus of Sonny Chiba as the hero. Great sets and characters help the movie greatly and also intriguing to see the villain come from a Christian background for relentless revenge. Shout Factory's Sonny Chiba Collection Vol. 1 has proven to be a great find of movies I would not have known about otherwise.

Blood & Gold 2023
I liked Peter Thorwath's Blood Red Sky so I was curious about this one and it's solid! It's stand above the standard Netflix movie but not by too much bur the story is good and the sheer invincibility of the main hero is entertaining. A solid watch and one I would recommend on Netflix.
