Utterly charming! Walter Matthau singing Figaro as he drives through border security made me laugh out loud.

I’d seen this before maybe 20 years ago, but it felt totally new to me upon rewatch, a pleasant surprise.

I love seeing Michael Mann apply his style to a thriller of a different genre and making investigative journalism sexy as hell. This movie is nothing short of a public service for many reasons but specifically Christopher Plummer as Mike Wallace.

Also fun to see the “action” build up over fax machines, email you have to go into your basement to check, the yellow pages, and a flip phone.

Very cool, clever, and I totally fell for these characters (including the cat). A skateboarding feminist anti-hero vigilante is the vampire take the world needs.

The use of the anamorphic lens makes the scenes feel that much more poetic and the landscape that much more desolate. Bonus points for the Iranian drag queen representation.
